Ella Antonia Wehman Dameron passed away peacefully on February 1, 2010. She was born May 4, 1911 in Lindenau, TX the youngest of eight children. As a young adult she enjoyed country dances along with her siblings where her sunny, spirited personality usually made her the belle of the ball. She met and married John B. Dameron in Cuero on January 8, 1938 while he was part of a bridge building crew. Ella became another Rosie the Riveter in an aircraft factory while John served in Germany during WWII. After WWII, they made their home in Uvalde where they made many dear friends. They were members of the Church of Christ, and Ella worked at the Rexall drugstore many years until her retirement. She was always up for a lively game of dominoes, Aggravation, Bunco, or Solitaire if no one else was around. They had no children of their own, but were Godparents to many nieces and nephews and rarely failed to attend family baptisms, birthdays, and weddings for many years. After John died in 1976, Ellas positive attitude, again, taught us how to move forward with grace even though the heart is hurting. What a great lady she was.
She is survived by her sister, Clara Leubert, 103, of Yorktown, three nephews, eight nieces, and numerous great, and great great nieces and nephews. The family wants to extend our deep appreciation to Dr. R. Sosa and Maria Llanes for their watchful and loving care of Ella.
Visitation will be held at RushingEstesKnowles Chapel on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Hillcrest Cemetery.
