Ellen Rose Carter, of San Antonio, TX, passed away on February 27, 2023, at her home at the age of 73. She was born on October 9, 1949, to Edwin William Meier and Vilma Elvira Schroeder.
She married Norman Carter on September 27, 1974, in Carson City, Nevada.
Ellen graduated from Knippa High School in 1967. She worked as an Office Manager for Zee Company for 33 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church all her life. She is survived by her daughter, Julia Carter and husband Matt Crist, and son Donald Carter; her grandchildren, Miles, Amelia, Kyra, Reba, Allison, and Alyssa; sisters, Cynthia Duvall, and Marcia Wallace.
She met her late husband Norman in Philadelphia, and it was love at first sight. She was a loving mother and grandmother and supported them by getting them to and from their activities and cheering them on from the sidelines. She loved playing cards with her sisters and working on jigsaw puzzles. She was very active in church as a member of the bell choir and Sunday School classes. She was strong in her faith and loved her adoring dog, Gracie. Words cannot describe how much she was loved and cherished, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Carter and her parents Edwin and Elvira Meier.
A funeral service will be held on March 9, at 11:00 a.m. Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa,TX. A burial will follow at the Knippa Cemetery. A meal at Emmanuel’s fellowship hall will follow the committal.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Knippa Lutheran Church and/or the Dornbusch Scholarship Fund.
