Elnora Elizabeth Gray Morris succumbed to Alzheimer's disease on September 6, 2018.
Noah, as she was known to her family, was born on December 31, 1928 in Marfa, Texas, to Frank and Selma Helweg Gray. She graduated from La Pryor High School, and married the love of her life, Delbert Morris, in La Pryor, Texas. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
During Delbert's career with Central Power and Light Company, the couple lived in Pearsall, Texas, where their daughters, Elizabeth and Marsha were born. They also lived in Uvalde, Laredo, and Harlingen. After retirement, they moved to Houston, and then to Coldspring to be close to their daughters and their only granddaughter, Emma, the light of her life. For the past 3 months, the family has been living in Tomball.
She was a devoted mother. She was a wonderful cook. After her daughters went off to college, she took a job in the cafeteria at St. Paul Lutheran School. Later she was recruited to University Preparatory School. She knew the likes and dislikes of every student, and always tried to cook something special just for them. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls.
She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and rooting for the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. She and Delbert traveled extensively after retirement. She loved to talk, and never met a stranger.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen, Texas, where she was an active member of LWML, and participated in other church activities. At the time of her death, she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Texas.
She was preceded in death by, her infant son, Frank Madison Morris, her parents, Frank and Selma Gray, her sisters and brothers-in law Dorothy Gray; Jennie Lou See and Chester See; Nellie Ede and Woodrow Ede; Bessie Hossman and Curly Hossman; and her brother, Hugh Gray. Also sisters-in law and brothers-in law, Marie Stone and Phil Stone; Marilyn Bullard; and Robert Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert Morris, daughters, Elizabeth Morris and Marsha Morris of Tomball, Texas, granddaughter, Emma Schoenemann of Livingston, Texas, her brother, Frank Gray and sister-in-law Dolly Gray of Miami, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Carolyn Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado, brother-in-law Dwayne Bullard of Castle Rock, Colorado, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rushing, Estes, Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde, Texas, After a chapel service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, with Pastor Victor Frank officiating, she will be buried near her parents in the Knippa Cemetery, in Knippa, Texas.
