Elvira M. Mirelez passed away on July 11, 2011 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. She was a third generation Texas, born June 29, 1918 in Uvalde, Texas. The oldest child of Felix Casares Mirelez and Juanita Rodriguez Hailes. During her childhood she was an important member of the family in helping raise a large family together with her father and mother. On July 27, 1936 she married Adan Ruiz Mirelez in Uvalde, Texas and raised eight good responsible children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Adan Ruiz Mirelez her parents, Felix C. and Juanita H. Mirelez brothers: Samuel H. Mirelez, David H. Mirelez, Jose H. Mirelez, Felix H. Mirelez sisters: Consuelo M. Ruiz, Florinda M. Flores, and Elisa M. Padilla.
Elvira is survived by her sons Freddy M. Mirelez, Adan M. Mirelez and his wife Irma, Danny M. Mirelez and his wife Rosalinda daughters, Sara M. Moreno and husband Antonio Moreno Felice M. Hernandez and late husband Cruz G. Hernandez, Angie M. Velasquez Peggy M. Garcia and husband Willie G. Garcia Jr. all of Uvalde, Texas and Clara M. Rodriguez and late husband Louis Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by one brother, Mike H. Mirelez and wife Theodora F. Mirelez of Cedar Park, Texas three sisters, Piedad M. Salazar of San Antonio, Texas, Linda M. Garcia of Batesville, Texas, and Sulema M. Torres and husband Alejandro Torres of San Antonio. In addition: 30 grandchildren, 68 greatgrandchildren, and 36 greatgreat grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Elvira was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She attended school only a few years, as she was needed at home to help her mother with the family. Most of her life was dedicated to family, either by helping her mother raise a large family or once she was married to raising her own eight children.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday July 12, 2011 and Wednesday July 13, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Thursday July 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony M. Moreno, Richard Hernandez, Daniel Rodriguez, Gabe Mirelez, Carl Mirelez and Willie Garcia III. Honorary Pallbearers are Silvana Mirelez and Michelle Torres.
