Emmett Eugene Capt Jr. died of agerelated causes on Dec. 30, 2010, in Uvalde at the age of 91.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1919, in San Antonio, Texas, to Donie Sisk Capt and Emmett Eugene Capt Sr.
He attended Texas AM and graduated in 1942 with a degree in civil engineering. He served during World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers earning the rank of captain. His duties during his service included building the airstrip, roads and hospital in Okinawa to help with the war effort.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Graves, and his parents.
He is survived by his children, Donya Betty Capt of Eugene, Ore., and Emmett Eugene Capt III and daughterinlaw Stephanie Stephens Capt of Kilgore, Texas three grandchildren, Christina Lee Capt, Emmett Eugene Capt IV and Courtney Mae Freeman and seven greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Louis Earle Capt and wife, Sue Carper Capt, of Uvalde, his brotherinlaw James B. Graves of Conroe, sistersinlaw Doris Graves Reynolds of Uvalde and Mary Graves Hufstedler of Concan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a long time employee for Exxon Mobil Corporation and most recently farmed and ranched in Uvalde.
He was a good and kind man who loved his family, his hometown of Uvalde and his Texas AM Aggies.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 2:30 PM in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate.
