Epifania Muñoz

Epifania V. Muñoz of Sabinal passed away on January 23, 2023, at Medina Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Castroville at the age of 93.

She was born on June 28, 1929, in Sabinal to Trinidad (Ybarra) and Vicente Vasquez.

She was a dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sabinal.

She married Gustavo Muñoz in Roswell, New Mexico on October 6, 1947.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosa M. Peña and husband, Roy of Elgin, Illinois, Diana Kurtzhal of Whitehall, Michigan and Frances Torres of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Viviana Muñoz Tristan, grandson, Rodolfo Tristan, III, four sisters, Amada Silvas, Guadalupe Davis, Andrea Borrego, Candelaria Ramos; and two brothers, Anastacio Vasquez and Pilo Vasquez.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 12 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Tristan, Roy Peña, Ray Peña, Ronnie Peña, Rob Torres, Randy Torres, and Ryan Torres.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Kurtzhal.
