Estelle Giffin

Estelle Herring Giffin was born November 18, 1914 on a farm in Uvalde County, Texas. She passed away October 20, 2008 in Ocala, Florida. Estelle was the 8th of 9 children born to Robert Bob and Margaret Herring. She married Willis Giffin, Sabinal Postmaster, in Sabinal in 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis; son, Joe Carpenter; parents, Margaret and Bob; brothers, Henry, Albert, and J.R.; and sisters, Gordia, Mollie, Ruby, Linnie, and Sara. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Counselman and husband, Robert of Woodbridge, New Jersey; and Terry Crowell and husband, Howard of Ocala, FL; six grandsons, Powell Carpenter, Sean Crowell, Bobby Carpenter, Howard Crowell, Don Counselman, and David Counselman; and her nieces and nephews that referred to as Aunt Stell. Estelle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends, and her influence will live forever. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of choice, or the Medina Childrens Home, 21300 State Hwy. 16 N, Medina, TX 78055. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 2:00PM at the Sabinal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Spence, Medford Keath, Jr., Gary Hart, Ted Sanderlin, John Turman, and Cliff Gustafson. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Powell Carpenter, Sean Crowell, Bobby Carpenter, Howard Crowell, Don Counselman, and David Counselman.
