Esther Perez

Esther Valdez Perez, 81, of La Pryor passed away on August 30, 2023, at her residence.

She was born on June 1, 1942, in La Pryor to Juanita (Najera) and Felipe Valdez.

She married Jesus Perez on September 6, 1958, in La Pryor. 

She is survived by her husband of 64 years of La Pryor; three daughters, Isabel Perez and husband, Bobby Lopez, Marissa Hodges and husband, Isaac all of La Pryor and Linda Perez of Uvalde; sister, Josephina Trevino of Selma, California; brother, Eugenio Valdez of San Antonio; two daughters in law, Enedina Perez and Mary Ann Perez; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Jesus Perez, Jr., Johnny Joe Perez, and Juan Jose Perez; daughter, Jessica Perez and sister, Elia Arreola.

Visitation will begin Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Ernie Perez, Crispin Perez, Jacob Perez, Gerardo Perez, Eric Perez, Joseph Perez, Jesse Perez, and Nathan Alaniz.
