Eugenio Sombrano Guedea

Eugenio Sombrano Guedea, age 83, of Uvalde, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2025, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

Eugenio was born on February 20, 1942, to Dolores (Sombrano) and Cecilio Guedea. He cherished his upbringing and maintained strong ties to his family throughout his life. On February 14, 1960, he married his beloved wife, Lidia Prado, in Batesville, Texas, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that would last 65 years.

Eugenio's legacy lives on through his wife, Lidia Guedea of Uvalde; three sons: Eugenio Joel Guedea, Jr., Elmer Guedea, and Guillermo Guedea and his wife, Lucia, all of Uvalde. He is also survived by his two daughters, Martha Velasquez and her husband, Richard, and Alexandra Sotelo and her husband, Raul, both of Uvalde. He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 34 great-grandchildren. Eugenio is remembered fondly by his sister, Alicia Ramos of Batesville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and a daughter-in-law, Laurentina Guedea.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, with a rosary to be recited on both days at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.

 Pallbearers will be Michael John Velasquez, Raul Sotelo Jr., Steven Guedea, Randy Jay Hill Jr., Guillermo Guedea Jr., Eugenio David Guedea.

 Eugenio Sombrano Guedea will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His memory will continue to inspire love and unity among his family and friends.
