Eunice Lee Gager of Beaumont died on April 17, 2009 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. She was born on May 1, 1921 in Beaumont to Eunice and Autery Burke. She married Oscar August Gager in Beaumont on June 12, 1942. Their first date was on Pearl Harbor Day. Mrs. Gager was a choir director at St. Pius X Catholic Church for many years. She directed many musical programs in Beaumont to everyone's delight. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed many trips to see the fall leaves. She is survived by her husband of 66 years; two sons, Stanley Gager and wife, Maria of Humble, TX; and Karl Gager, Sr. and wife, Stephanie of Uvalde; one sister, Marilyn Trail; four grandchildren, Jennie Riddle, Karl Gager, Jr., Michael Gager, and Tanya Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Reagan Gager. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Christian vigil service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Broussard's Mortuary, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont, TX. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, TX. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, TX. Pallbearers will be Karl Gager, Jr.; Michael Gager; Darrin Riddle; Don Johnson; Daniel Patrick Riddle; David Michael Riddle; Matthew Caleb Johnson; and Gannon Joseph Gager. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Stephen Riddle; Michael Lee Johnson; and Garrison August Gager. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, TX 77701 or to the charity of one's choice.
