Eva Werth

May 24, 1922 — February 19, 2016

Eva Mae Werth was born May 24, 1922 in Knippa. Her parents were Nick and Sophie Schultz Jurick. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Knippa and confirmed February 16, 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Knippa High School. She was united in Christian marriage to Edgar Charles Werth on April 27, 1940, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Eva died February 19, 2016, at the age of 93, at Vitas Healthcare in San Antonio.

Eva and Edgar were the parents of four daughters Lynda, Patsy, Charlotte and Shirley. She was a loyal and dedicated "Rockcrusher", attending every sporting event her daughters and grandchildren ever participated in. Even without family in school, she continued her dedication to Knippa sports as long as she was able, well up into her 80's. When daughter Shirley began teaching kindergarten at Knippa, "Granny Eva" became a permanent fixture at school bringing a purse full of candy every day to hand out to children. This continued for 33 years until Shirley retired. She will be remembered by many kids, now adults, for her constant warning to "tie your shoe".

Eva, in turn, received many honors from Knippa ISD for her loyalty. Among them was the dedication of the 1984 annual. A letter jacket was presented to her by her close friend, coach Jerry Radicke. In 2008, the new elementary playground was dedicated in her honor.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elsie Kuhn, granddaughter, Tammy Hasty and by Edgar, her husband of 67 years. She is survived by her daughters Lynda Harp, Patsy and Fred Hasty, all of San Antonio, Charlotte and Travis Muecke, Shirley and Mike Brice, all of Knippa; six grandchildren, Gary Harp and Michelle Ross, San Antonio, James and Brenda Harp, El Campo, Mike and Shari Harp, Victoria, Jerry and Terre Hasty, Floresville, Tim and Kristi Brice, Tyler, Kristin Brice and Jesse Adams, Knippa. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Clayton and Kaylyn Harp, Nicole and Rachel Harp, Jared Webb and Dustin Hickman. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Knippa with burial following in Knippa Cemetery. Rev. Nathan Lafrenz will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Harp, James Harp, Michael Harp, Jerry Hasty, Timothy Brice, and Jesse Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristin Brice, Shollie Falkenberg, and Nyland Falkenberg. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 250 S. FM 1049, Knippa, TX 78870.
