Evangelina Chapa

Evangelina Villarreal Chapa, 87, of Uvalde passed away on October 17, 2023, at Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde. 

She was born on April 29, 1936, in Uvalde, Texas to Antonia (Villarreal) and Serapio Chapa.

She is survived by her brother, Lee Roy Chapa of Uvalde, nieces, Christine Chapa of Uvalde, Lisa Garza and husband, Martin of San Antonio, Katherine Chapa and companion, Martin Hernandez of Uvalde, Cynthia Besares and husband, Roger of Uvalde, Armandina Herrera and husband, Edward, Enedina “Nani” Chapa of Uvalde, Enedina “Annie” Chapa of Uvalde, and Lidia Musquiz of Uvalde; nephews, Larry Chapa, Sr. of Uvalde, Richard Chapa of Leakey, and Joe Chapa of Uvalde; and numerous great nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Diamantina Musquiz, Ermandina Carmona, and Enedina Perez; brother, Jose Jesus Chapa; brothers in law, Leandro Musquiz, Joe Carmona, and Adolfo Perez; and sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Chapa and Mercedes O. Chapa; nephew, Lee Roy Chapa, Jr.; and great niece, Mary Alice Chapa.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 3 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Larry Chapa, Sr., Richard Chapa, Marco Besares, Frank Lopez, Martin Garza, Elisha Diaz, Donnie Terrazas, and John Terrazas.
