Evelyn Hutchison, 99, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on October 31, 2024, at her residence.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well-lived, reflecting on the indelible impact she made in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Born on December 2, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas to Mauree (Price) and Philip Trahan, Evelyn embodied kindness and commitment throughout her long life. She shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert E. Hutchison, creating a legacy of love and companionship that remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Evelyn's enduring dedication to education began in Brackettville, Texas, where she first stepped into the role of teacher. Her impactful career culminated at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where she taught fourth grade with patience and passion. A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, she also found joy in volunteering her time at the hospital gift shop after retirement, embodying the spirit of service and community.
A loving mother and grandmother, Evelyn cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her son, Sam Hutchison and wife, Nita of Uvalde; sister, Phyllis Moore of Iberia, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Deanne Hutchison, Leslie Hutchison, James Johnson, Cathy Balke and husband, Michael, Phillip Johnson, and wife Shayla, Sammy Hutchison and wife, Ashley and Jeff Hutchison and wife, Korena. Furthermore, her legacy extends to numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Robert, her daughter Nancy Johnson, two sons, Bob Hutchison and Bill Hutchison, as well as her niece, Jane Moore.
