Faye Imogene Hawkes was born on November 25, 1926, in Lometa, Texas, to parents Shorty and Rhoda Dean. The family moved to Uvalde where Faye attended school. She graduated from Uvalde High School in 1944.
Faye married Lee Marion Hawkes on January 1, 1946. They made Uvalde their home and were active members in the community for the remainder of their adult lives. Faye was a faithful member of the Getty Street Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, in San Antonio, at the age of 90.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lee and one grandson, Bryan Keith Hawkes. She is survived by her sister, Jane Baker and husband J.R. of La Vernia; four children, Dean Hawkes and wife, Lynette of Floresville; Debbie McNiel and husband, Ricky of Uvalde; Becky Suttles of Conroe; and Jill Gill and husband, Duane of San Antonio; seven (7) grandchildren; eleven (11) great-grandchildren and one (1) great, great grandchild. She is also survived by life-long friends, Tom and Nelda Boecking of Temple, Texas.
Funeral services will held on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Knippa Church of Christ with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde.
