Federico Noe Castro, 67, of Brackettville, who was born and raised in Uvalde, Texas passed away, July 20, 2023.
He drove for UPS for 34 years and was honored to work with a great group of guys, who to this day still remain close friends. He was a passionate collector and preservationist of ancient artifacts, antique and vintage items, which he displayed at Horner’s On The Square. Fred was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunts with his grandson Josh, from an early age. He had a talent for growing plants and gardening which he was recognized for on Fort Clark.
He is survived by wife, Jana Diane Castro of Brackettville; daughter, Jennifer Rose Castro and grandson, Joshua Charles Dunn both of Houston; sister Fatima Cruz and husband Joe of Batesville; brother, Celso Alejandro Castro of Waco; stepdaughter, Amanda Laurice Lara and stepgrandson, Jack Joseph Thibodeaux both of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dr. Anita Torres Smith; father, Louis Castro, Jr. and nephew, Adam Cruz.
The family will receive friends at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Funeral Home, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 5 PM followed by a Rosary at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2 PM, with Father James of Brackettville officiating. Interment will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Dunn, Henry Roman, Al Valdemar, Jesse Suarez, Bill Cross and Anthony Munoz.
