Felix Mares

Felix Gonzales Mares of Uvalde passed away on February 1, 2008 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. He was born on November 20, 1939 in D'Hanis, TX to Mariano and Gregoria Mares. He married Carmen Uriegas in Uvalde on August 22, 1960. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; six daughters, Rosemary Mariscal and husband, Michael of San Antonio; Cindy Mendoza and husband, Joe of Uvalde; Dora Sanchez and husband, Daniel of San Antonio; Margaret Salas and husband, Celestino of Austin; Angelica Cruz and husband, Richard of Lawton, OK; and Denise Mancha and husband, Greg, Jr. of Uvalde; one sister, Maria Correa of Hondo; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Mariano Mares, Jr. and Manuel Mares. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at 3:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Fr. Wieslaw Iwaniec will officiate. A rosary will be held on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel.
