Fidel Casarez

Fidel Betancourt Casarez formerly of Uvalde passed away at his residence on July 1, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born on June 7, 1923 in Mexico to Paulo and Zaragosa Betancourt Casarez. He was a roofing contractor for most of his life. He also lived a very free and content life and always doing whatever it was that made him the happiest. He will be missed by his family for his antidotes and humorous comments. Even after raising his own children he and wife had enough love to raise four grandchildren as if they were their own Pete V. Ybarra, Maggie Flores, Paul Casarez Jr., and Johnny F. Casarez. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Lou Gonzales of Lubbock, Olga Castro of Abilene and Laura Casarez of Abilene sons, Oscar Casarez and wife Marie of Uvalde, Paul Casarez, Joe Casarez and wife Rubi all of Uvalde and Richard Casarez of Abilene, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Maria Belen Flores. Graveside services will be held on Thursday July 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sammy Flores Jr., Dominic Flores, Frank Castro Jr., Zar Naverette, Oscar Casarez Jr., Brandon Ramirez, Gabriel Casarez and Juan Gomez. Honorary pallbearer will be Jose Sabastian Casarez Jr.
