Florencia Cruz

Florencia “Flora” Cruz of La Pryor passed away on July 21, 2020 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.  She was born on March 20, 1931 in Knippa to Cruz Cortez and Juanita Hernandez.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosalinda Hernandez of Virginia, Irma Saldana of Katy, Sylvia Vera and husband, Santos of La Pryor, Sally Ortiz and husband, Eluterio of La Pryor, Lydia Delao and husband, Adolfo of Katy, and Brenda Cruz of La Pryor; sons, Manuel Cruz, III and wife, Maria of Uvalde and Eddie Cruz of La Pryor; sisters, Yoli Torres, Lala Flores, and Anne Martinez all of San Angelo and brother, Pilo Cortez of San Angelo; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Cruz, Jr., granddaughter, Melissa Saldana, great grandson, Billy Vera, Jr., great granddaughter, Brianna Granado; brothers, Paul Cortez, Cleto Cortez and Johnny Cortez; and sister, Crucita Cortez

Visitation will begin on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary, followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at La Pryor.

Pallbearers will be Adolfo Delao, Jimmy Diaz, Santos Vera, Jr., Michael Morante, Travis Saldana, and Julian Guerrero.
