Frances Stein

Frances Kathryn Garey Stein of Fredericksburg formerly of Uvalde, passed away November 30, 2015 at her home at the age of 91. She was born January 15, 1924 in Denton, Montana, to Sanford and Ruth Ann (Moore) Garey. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Kaye Sawyer-Morse and son-in-law Jon; grandson, Jeff Kempf and 1 great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Stein; parents, and brothers, Sanford Edwin Garey, Alfred Henry Garey and James "Jimmie" Garey.
She was past Worthy Matron of Order and lifetime member of the Eastern Star, a member of First United Methodist Church Life Training class, a supporter of El Progreso Memorial Library and past president of Uvalde AARP. She held a special place in many people's hearts. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church children's education wing, 301 N. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Uvalde Cemetery. Rev. Tim Fahrenthold will officiate. The family will greet guests at a reception held at Weston Hall, First United Methodist Church immediately following the graveside service.
