Francisca Alvarado

Francisca V. Alvarado of San Antonio passed away on June 6, 2018 at her residence at the age of 103. She was born on December 2, 1914 in Knippa to Abelino and Juanita (Gonzales) Vela. She married Julio S. Alvarado in Knippa in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1981. Mrs. Alvarado continued to live in her home in Knippa until she the age of 93 before moving to Lytle and then San Antonio due to her health. She is survived by four daughters, Emma Benavides of San Antonio, Ofelia Ivarra of Lytle, Irma Balzen of Campbell, CA, and Rose M. Llanes of Bradenton, Florida; five sons, Henry Alvarado of Knippa, Salvador Alvarado and Robert Alvarado of Uvalde, Julio Alvarado Jr. of Grand Prairie, and Edward Alvarado of Westmorland, CA; and 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Jesus Vela and Guillermo Vela; sisters, Sara Fuentes, Tomasa Gomez, and Herminia Vela; sons, Raul Alvarado, Sr. and Telesforo Alvarado; and daughters, Beatriz Lopez, Carolina Lopez, and Amalia Perez. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Knippa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Julio Alvarado III, Salvador Alvarado, Jr., Robert Alvarado, Jr., Daniel Alvarado, Henry Alvarado, Jr., Hector Benavides, Jr., Kevin Balzen, Jason Balzen and Michael Alvarado.
