Frank Herrera Gonzales Sr. of Uvalde passed away on January 10, 2010 in Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 68. He was born on December 27, 1941 in Sabinal, Texas to E.V. and Agustina Gonzales. He was well known in the sheep shearing community. In his lifetime he won several sheep shearing championships. He was known for his humor and willingness to help everyone out. He was also a dedicated Coyote fan. He married Amparo Menchaca on February 28, 1960 in Uvalde, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Amparo M. Gonzales of Uvalde, Texas two sons Frank Gonzales Jr. and wife, Sandra and Richard Gonzales and wife, Sandra all of Uvalde, Texas one sister Alicia Moreno and husband, Nestor of San Antonio, Texas one brother Jesse Olivarez and wife, Aurora of Ft. Worth, Texas grandchildren Ashley Patino and husband, Arnulfo R.T. Gonzales Aaron Gonzales and Clarissa Gonzales sisterinlaw Elvira Menchaca numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A rosary will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM at RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Uvalde Catholic Cemetery.Pallbearers will be R.T. Gonzales, Aaron Gonzales, Arnulfo Patino, Pete Garcia, Rex Jackson, and Salome Ortega. Honorary pallbearers will be Beau Watkins, Bruce Gilland, Weldon Gilland, Bill Cofer, Carl Lee Hellums, Mark Vanham, Tom DuBose, Rudy Flores Jr., Rudy Flores III, and Roger Trevino.
