Fred Eklund

Fred Allen Eklund of Utopia passed away on September 15, 2008 at his residence at the age of 76. He was born in Luling, TX on September 5, 1932 to Collie and Catsy Davenport Eklund. He married Rose Homola in Luling on June 21, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; sons, Carl Eklund and wife, Carolyn of Long Beach, Mississippi; and John Eklund and wife, Carla of Van Alstyne, TX; daughters, Lou Ann Crump and husband, David of Sharon, OK; and Emily Lewis and husband, Bob of Hunt, TX; 13 grandchildren, Nicole Copley; Melissa Hollis; David Crump; Danny Crump; Elana Crump; Scott Simpson; Carl Eklund; James Eklund; Colt Eklund; Remi Eklund; Austin Lewis; Chase Lewis; and Maddie Lewis; and 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dinah Oliver and husband, Larry of Tomball, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the Utopia Church of Christ with burial to follow in Jones Cemetery. Mr. Paul Goodnight and Mr. Justin Hopkins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Morris Killough, Tom Howard, Harwell Davis, Bob Gilleland, John Hillis, and Mark D'Spain. Honorary pallbearers will be Peach Bob Franks, George Keelin, Gary Selby, and members of the Utopia Church of Christ.
