Fritz Henry Streib was born in Uvalde, Texas to Fritz and Gilla Dee (Hoover) Streib on October 19, 1942. He passed away in Uvalde, Texas on January 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Streib Davenport. He is survived by his daughters and their families: Steve and Shawn Gray of Rio Frio, Texas ,and their children Jacy and Jake; Greg and Lisa Oden of Magnolia, Texas, and grandchildren Hayley and Erin. He is also survived by brothers Willis Springfield and George Streib and numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry enjoyed an idyllic childhood, growing up in the Frio Canyon on the family ranch and often regaled his family with stories of the mischief and adventures he and his brothers experienced. He attended school in Leakey and Sabinal, graduating from Sabinal High School in 1961. He was a member of the Leakey Masonic Lodge AF & AM #622.
He completed a long career with Southwestern Bell and AT&T, working tirelessly to provide a good living and every advantage for his family. Henry never met a stranger and had a smile and wave for everyone. This earned him the fitting moniker "Friendly Henry."
His children and grandchildren were his greatest accomplishment in life. He loved them with all of his heart, and his pride in them was evident. His last years were lived in the Frio Canyon that he loved so much.
Henry's passing will leave huge void in the lives of his family and friends, but his unwavering love and support will never be forgotten.
Services were held on Saturday, January 31st at the United Methodist Church in Leakey, TX.
Pallbearers were Steve Gray, Jake Gray, Gregrey Oden, Bryan Shackelford, Jim Davenport, Danny Rimkus. Honorary pallbearers were Terry LaGrone, Eddie Mathis, Lanny Leinweber.
