Gail Toombs

Gail Cargil Toombs of San Antonio passed away on September 14, 2017 at her residence at the age of 68. She was born on April 25, 1949 in Salinas, CA to Jean (Douglas) and Curtis Weldon Cargil. She moved with her family to Uvalde in 1954 where her father engaged in a lifetime in agriculture. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Wright; sons, Jeff Hawkes and Callan Toombs, all of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Cargil Wright, Lawson Wright, and Harlie Hawkes; sisters, Donna Rimkus of San Antonio; and Nancy Barton and husband, Buzz of Uvalde; brother, Steve Cargil and wife, Nancy of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Toombs; and son, Bryan Keith Hawkes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cargil Wright, Lawson Wright, Brett Rimkus, Tom Wright, Pat Lonsdale, Paul Gustosky, Ryan Jacobson, and Fisher Rimkus. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Embrace Hospice of San Antonio; Uvalde Hospice; or the charity of one's choice.
