Garland Ansel Armstrong of Uvalde passed away on April 28, 2020 at his residence at the age of 93. He was born November 30, 1926 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Dee and Ollie Fay (Teague) Armstrong.
Garland service in the US Navy during WWII as a Seaman IC aboard the USS Okaloosa. After the war he began his long career as a tile setter. For over 50 years he provided his services to a number of businesses and homes in Uvalde and the surrounding area. He loved spending time with family and friends and was actively involved in church visitations and church services.
Garland married Ellen Jane Hobbs in Uvalde on April 9, 1982.
Garland is survived by his wife, Ellen of Uvalde of 38 years; daughters, Garlinda Rush and husband, Len of Greenville, Sherry Crenshaw and husband, Howard of Emery and Bonnie Bretzke and husband, Mark of Brownwood; sons, James Haynes and wife, Amanda of Simpsonville, SC and Aubrey Paul Haynes and wife, Xaviera of Uvalde; brothers, Stanely Keeney and wife, Jolene of Uvalde and Harold Lecil Armstrong and wife, Jeanie of Odessa; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Floyd Kenney; sons, Billy Armstrong, and Cliff Armstrong; and brothers, Cloyce Keeney, Norman Keeney and Donald Keeney.
A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery.
