Geronimo Chavez

Geronimo Jerry Chavez of Uvalde passed away on November 18, 2013 at his residence at the age of 89. He was born on January 5, 1924 in Albuquerque, NM to Manuel and Cecilia Padilla Chavez. He married Jane Merry on February 20, 1960 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He is survived by his wife of 43 years daughters, Linda A. Chavez of Long Beach, CA, Merry Chavez Anderson of Washington, DC and Sandra C. Bellew of Bethesda, MD son, Luis C. Chavez of Uvalde sister, Nadine Bell of Mora, NM brother, Benny P. Chavez of Belen, N.M grandchildren, Gabriela Salcedo, Sofia Salcedo, Eric Anderson, Laura Anderson, Mark Anderson, Henry Bellew, and James Bellew and numerous nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents, brother, Adolfo Chavez and sister, Kate Romero. A rosary will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Benny P. Chavez, Henry Bellew, James Bellew, Laura Anderson, Mark Anderson, and Sofia Salcedo.
