Gertrudis Jimenez

Gertrudis T. Jimenez of Uvalde passed away on January 10, 2012 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 96. She was born on September 4, 1915 in Sabinal, Texas to Leocadio and Mariana Chavez Torres. She is survived by her sister, Lille Gonzales of Uvalde, brothers, Tanislado Torres of California and Leocadio Torres Jr. of Louisiana, granddaughters, Nancy Flores, Larissa Silva, Maryann Garza and husband Joe all of Uvalde and Apolonia Benavides and husband Joe of Wisconsin, grandsons, Silvestre Castro III, Michael Castro both of Wisconsin and Emmanuel Castro of Uvalde. She is preceded in death by her husband, Apolonio Jimenez, daughter, Mary Castro, sisters, Santos Avalos, Guadalupe Chavez and Apolonia Neira. A rosary will be held on Thursday January 12, 2012 and Friday January 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rushing Estes Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 14, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Silvestre Castro, Michael Castro, Emmanuel Castro, Joe Benavides, Joe Garza, Joey Benavides and Robert Silva.
