Gilberto Torres, Sr.

Gilberto Z. Torres of Uvalde passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehabilitation at the age of 81. Gilberto was born on April 24, 1936 in Uvalde to Eutimio and Antonia (Zavala) Torres. He married Maria Flores on September 4, 1960 in Uvalde.
Gilberto is survived by his wife of 57 years, one daughter, Lydia Morales and husband Arnold of Uvalde; three sons, Gilberto Torres Jr. and wife Cristina, Jose Antonio Torres and wife Anna and Juan Torres, all of Uvalde; four sisters, Julia Guzman, Elida T. Moreno, Andrea Moreno and Antonia Rios all of Uvalde; one brother, Alejandro Torres of San Antonio; 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents, one son, Alejandro Torres, two brothers, Valentin Torres and Eutimio Torres Jr. and grandson Ezequiel Torres.
A rosary will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. a vigil on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arnold Morales Jr., Sergio Morales, Javier Torres, Rogelio Torres, Jose Torres Jr. and Gilberto Torres III.
