Hal Jessee of La Pryor passed away at University Hospital in San Antonio, Tx on April 26, 2016 at the age of 91.
He was born July 7, 1924 in La Pryor, Tx to Paul and Marie Jessee. He graduated from La Pryor High School in 1941 and attended college courses at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Soon after, he joined the military and served as Marine Corporal in World War II where he was stationed overseas in Okinawa and Pavuvu Islands for the entirety of 3 years. He was appointed as driving instructor for amphibious tractors.
Following his military service, he moved to San Antonio, Texas to attend Draughons Business College where he met his wife Vada. The couple married in her hometown of Comfort on June 17, 1950. To their marriage were born two children Vernon and Holly.
He retired as Zavala County Dept. of Transportation Supervisor in 1984. Hal was also a dedicated farmer and rancher.
He is survived by his son Vernon Jessee of La Pryor; Daughter-in-Law Edna Jessee of La Pryor; Grandchildren Janita Jessee and Joseph Valenzuela of Uvalde; Halie Jessee and Samuel Zapata of San Antonio. Great-Grandson Joseph Aaron Valenzuela Jr.; Sister Margaret Day of Leander, Tx. Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Vada; Daughter Holly; Parents; Brother Johnny Jessee and wife Jimbob.
Funeral services will be held April 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Internment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.
