Hector Ortiz

Hector Guadalupe Ortiz of La Pryor passed away on August 14, 2017 at his residence at the age of 84. He was born on July 28, 1933 in La Pryor, Texas to Alberto and Santos (Salas) Ortiz. He married Manuela Gonzales in La Pryor.
He is survived by his son, Oscar J. Vera and wife, Kathyleen Cantu of La Pryor; sister, Enriqueta Roman of Kerrville, Omar Ortiz and Maria G. Hernandez all of Carleton, Texas; brother, Juan Federico Ortiz of Saginaw, Michigan, Rudolfo Ortiz of Santa Clarita, California; grandchildren, Miranda K. Vera, Erik J. Vera, Mari N. Vera and Kayla N. Vera; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Beatrice Saldana and Rosa E. Hernandez.
A rosary will be held on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in La Pryor. Burial will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nahun Hernandez, Rafael Mendoza, George Vera, Saul Ramos, Javier Rosas Sr. and Javier Rosas Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Erik Vera.
