Henry Smith Trees of Uvalde passed away on May 2, 2009 at his residence at the age of 90. He was born on July 27, 1918 in De Soto, TX to Cabble and Clara Parker Trees. He married Floy Tinker Tierce in Uvalde on November 20, 1981. Mr. Trees was a carpenter in the Uvalde area since 1947. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Uvalde. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. from 1937-1939. Mr. Trees was one of the original volunteers of the Uvalde Hospice. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tinker Trees; three sons, Richard Trees and wife, Clodel of Richmond, TX, Robert Trees and wife Shirley of Ingram, TX; and Gaylon Trees and wife, Debbie of Uvalde; stepsons, Stephen Sparks of Oklahoma and Stanley Sparks of Ohio; one brother, Roland Trees of San Antonio; sister, Sue Brown of Uvalde; 11 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Doris Schawe Trees; two daughters, Winona Faye Trees and Phyllis Richardson; two sisters, Mae Taylor and Annabel Coleman; brother, David Trees; and grandson, Guy Trees. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Don Tumlinson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tommy Allison, Paul Frizzell, Jackie Dukes, Archie McFadin, Walter Herrington, and Steve Parker.
