Henry "Hank" Hammer

Henry B. Hammer, III, 79, of Uvalde passed away on November 19, 2022, at Saunders Senior Living in Uvalde.

He was born on July 18, 1943, in Aurora, Colorado to Margaret Cooper and Henry Burton Hammer, Jr.

He married Jenifer Hardin in Corpus Christi on January 1, 1986.

Hank’s first career was as a Top-40 radio DJ beginning in 1959. He earned a PHD in Psychology at the University of Houston and served as the clinical psychologist at the Corpus Christi VA outpatient clinic for 30 years.  He enjoyed sailing, cooking, arts and crafts and his dog.  He served as president of the Nueces County Psychological Association and served as Commodore of the Padre Island Yacht Club.  Hank was the emcee for Good Egg Productions as well as for some gospel music performances.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Uvalde.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny, of 36 years of Uvalde; daughter, Kristen Hammer of Daytona, Beach, Florida; brother, Ben Hammer of Florence, Oregon; sisters, Tana Heart and Sondra O’Neal both of Denver, Colorado; half sisters, Patricia Herdrick of Arizona and Sue Ann Walker of Denver; two step- children; Mandy Heath of Woodland Park, Colorado; and Kelsey Heath of Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Uvalde with a reception to follow.
