Herminia Gomez

On August 29, 2019, Our Heavenly Father called our Beloved Mother, Herminia G. Gomez (Minnie), from Batesville to join Him.  She passed away in Uvalde, Texas at the age of 79.  She was born on March 17, 1940 in Batesville, Texas.  She has gone to Heaven to prepare a place for us.  Our mother was truly a wonderful woman filled with tenderness, love, compassion, generosity and unsurmountable strength to overcome challenges that life had thrown her way.  She loved us dearly and willingly sacrificed everything to ensure that her children would succeed in life.  Minnie went above and beyond to give her children the opportunities to acquire higher learning and become life-long learners.   Her friendly, approachable personality made people laugh and smile, brightening up their day. She enjoyed being around others and readily extended a helping hand to those in need.  Minnie was an entrepreneur who sold Avon products for 30 years and was known for her mouth-watering, delicious tamales.  She will forever stay in our minds, hearts, and souls.  Our Mother is truly an unforgettable ray of sunshine, who will be sorely missed. She is preceded in death by her parents Cecilio and Dolores (Sambrano) Guedea, her youngest son Danny, and her grandson Joseph Michael Ybarra.

She is survived by her twin daughters: Dora Elva Gomez, Elma Gomez both of Batesville and Norma Leticia Ybarra and husband, Richard of Buda; son, Luis Hector Gomez, Jr. and wife, Yolanda of Uvalde; ex-husband Luis Hector Gomez, Sr. of Batesville, sister, Alicia Ramos of Batesville; brother, Eugenio Guedea of Uvalde and grandchildren, Jeffery Ybarra, Daniel Ybarra, Abraham Ybarra, Moses Ybarra and Sarah Ybarra of Buda, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Friday at 12:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Batesville Cemetery.
