Our Mother's Legacy: Nadie como Tu BRBREnglish BRBRThere is no one like youBRBRBRBRThis week we celebrate the life of our Mother Hilda Davis Argelia, who traveled to Heaven without any stops on January 9, 2009. Our Mother, Hilda Davis succumbed after a courageous fight with colorectal cancer, which was diagnosed in 2005. At the age of nine years, her only sister, Dora Esquivel, passed away with leukemia. My Mother mourned her loss all of her life. We find comfort knowing she is embracing her sister after many years apart.BRBRMrs. Davis was an integral part of Sabinal's Headstart program from 1975 - 2004, becoming a director in 1982 and was known as a friend to anyone she met, giving her love and forgiveness unconditionally. She always believed that good prevailed and that her life was in the hands of God, the saints, and all the angels. Her husband of 43 years, Jim, said it best. When Hilda passes, she will be the only person who has ever gone directly to Heaven. We ask when you think of her to extend yourself to someone who needs companionship, friendship, and forgiveness.BRBRMrs. Davis is the daughter of the late Felix and Catalina Esquivel. She cared for both of her parents and was at their bedside when they passed away, weeks apart from each other in 2004 and 2005. BRBRMrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jim, brother Florentino Esquivel, daughters Kelly Gomez, Shelley Casey, and Karen Garber, son James Davis, granddaughter who she raised, Jennifer, three son in-laws, five other grandchildren, Aaron and David Davis, and Dylan, Collin, and Peyton Casey, and many nieces and nephews, including Sandra, Adrian, Abel, and David Esquivel.BRBRA rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel in Sabinal. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Sabinal Cemetery. BRBR
