Homer W. Hale of Uvalde passed away on May 28, 2009 in Methodist Specialty Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 86. He was born on September 15, 1922 in Uvalde to Dewey and Selena Farris Hale. He married Jean Bryce on December 18, 1947 in Uvalde. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; daughter, Barbara Lowe of Uvalde; two sons, Lonnie Hale and wife, Beth of Grand Prairie, TX; and Wayne Hale and fiancee, Jayme Smith of Uvalde; seven grandchildren, Derek Hale; Brandon Hale and wife, Ashley; Jennifer Lowe and husband, Jeremy; Jamie Lowe; Haley Ritter; Landry Ritter; and Caden Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Forest Lowe-Bupp; Ivy Howard; Emily Howard; Manny Hale; and Jeanna Lowe. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hale; grandson, Josh Lowe; and great-grandson, Thomas Michael Lowe. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel with burial to follow in Uvalde Cemetery. Mr. King Burney will officiate. Pallbearers will be Derek Hale; Brandon Hale; Forest Lowe-Bupp; Jared Pfeil; Wes Floure; and Johnny Sweeten. Honorary pallbearers will be the Amber Sky morning coffee drinkers; George Chink Sweeten; Milton Oatman; Tommy Bryce; Leonard Poehler; Billy Jacob; and Manza Hale, Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the Regional Cancer Care Medical Center, 1025 Garner Field Road, Uvalde, TX 78801; or to the Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Hwy. 16 North, Medina, TX 78055.
