Hortencia Garcia

Hortencia Alvarado Garcia of La Pryor passed away on December 5, 2020 in Hale Center at the age of 96.  She was born on April 4, 1924 in Cotulla, Texas to Jesus and Francisca (Rodriguez) Alvarado.

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Reyna of Sydney, Montana, Lupe Jimenez and husband Emilio of Hale Center, Texas, Frances Gonzales of Abilene, Texas and Janie Rodriguez and husband, John of Rockport; sons, Porfirio Garcia and wife, Maria of La Pryor and Nicolas Garcia of San Antonio; sisters, Enriqueta Del Toro of Hereford, Texas and Angelina Alvarado of La Pryor; 22 grandchildren; 47; great grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Maria Francisca Garcia; son, Juan Garcia; brothers, Roberto Alvarado, Luis Antonio Alvarado, Gilberto Alvarado, and Salvador Alvarado; granddaughter, Lisa Reyna and grandson, Josue Abraham Garcia.

Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  Interment will follow at La Pryor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joey Gonzales, Elias Perez, Ruben Gonzales, Luis Adrian Garcia, Andy Garcia, David Gonzales and Scott Ramus.
