Howard W. Bill Gilmour of Uvalde passed away on November 14, 2008 at Cedar Hills Nursing Home in Camp Wood at the age of 89. He was born on March 21, 1919 in Coulterville, Illinois to Harold and Margaret Gilmour. He married Claudie Christine Stonecipher in Hondo, TX on January 9, 1943. They resided in Uvalde where was a long-time businessman and rancher. They were married for 60 years before her death in 2003. Bill was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, Legion Post 26, and the Masonic Lodge of St. Louis, MO. He is survived by his nieces, Judy Bownds and husband, Ron of Utopia; and Mary Hargrove of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Tommy Winkle and wife, Jan of Uvalde; sister-in-law, Helen Stonecipher of Mexia, TX; four grandchildren, Bryson Nokes of Grapevine, TX; Staci Nokes Reichert of Naples, FL; Lesli Nokes of Lewisville, TX; and Brad Nokes of Ft. Wayne Indiana; and five great-grandchildren, Colton and Justin Nokes; and Brock, Lauren, and Cole Reichert. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Sandy Nokes. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Rev. Scott Bradford will officiate. Cremation was under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
