Hubert Felts

Hubert Lee Felts of Sabinal, Texas went to be with his Lord on September 5, 2014 in Boerne, Texas. He was born in Sabinal on December 22, 1928 to Sammie Edward and Lucy Mae Alley Felts. Hubert married his sweetheart Betty Faye Robinson on June 30, 1949, a marriage that lasted over 65 years. Henry Scheide joined Hubert in purchasing Main Auto Supply. They had a successful business career and friendship, enjoying traveling together with their wives for many years. Involved in his community, Hubert was active in Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club and served as Uvalde County Commissioner during 19871988. After retiring from Main
Auto he enjoyed farming and ranching in Sabinal. His life revolved around his family and church. A music lover from a young age, he played the fiddle and was known to break into song on many occasions. Huberts grandchildren and
greatgrandchildren all remember grabbing his upraised thumb and dancing a jig with him whenever they visited. He was a longtime member of the Hudson Brotherhood where he and his brotherinlaw Tommy Oliphant shared precious time together. A devoted member of Central Christian Church, he served as Elder and Song Leader, often singing special music. Whether in a church or family setting, he often urged people togather around for prayer before leaving. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved sister Maurine Oliphant and brotherin
law Tommy Oliphant. He is survived by his wife, Betty daughter Kay Brieden and husband, Les of Uvalde son Ronny Felts and wife Kim of Boerne grandchildren Blair Dorris and husband Todd, Bess Kidd and husband Sean, Lee Brieden, Jordan Felts, Kelley Felts and Abby Felts greatgrandchildren Ellenore Faye Dorris, Brynnan Dorris, Tate Graham Dorris and Emma Lou Kidd a sisterinlaw, brotherinlaws, nieces and nephews. A slogan heard often from Hubert was Leave It Better Than You Found It. He did.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Central Christian Church in Sabinal with interment to follow in Sabinal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Brieden, Jordan Felts, Todd Dorris, Sean Kidd, Billy Mitchell and Dennis Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are Milton West, Bill Mitchell, Mike Nuckles, Larry Truelove, and Charlie Story.
