Hugh Magee

Mr. Hugh Roger Magee of Knippa passed away on Saturday, March 02, 2019 in San Antonio at the age of 73.  Roger was born on November 19, 1945 in Robstown, Texas to Hugh L. and Rita (LaRose) Magee. He married Josefina H. Gutierrez on August 6, 2005 in Uvalde.

Roger served as Sherriff of La Salle County for 12 years and was a pesticide inspector for the Texas Department of Agriculture for 12 years, he also was a volunteer Deputy with Uvalde County Sherriff Office.

Roger is survived by his wife of 13 years Josefina Magee of Knippa; mother, Rita Magee of Cotulla; sister Patricia Sewell of San Antonio; brother, Edward R. Magee of Cotulla; step-daughter, Hortencia Gembler of Knippa; step-son, Jose C. Rodriguez of Eagle Pass; 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.  With interment to follow at Knippa Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ray Harbison, Johnny Ward, Jose Juarez, Eduardo Adams, Margarito Nieto and Roy Silva.
