Indalecio (Lecho) Quiroga, 85, of Uvalde died on September 8, 2023 at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio. He married Elsa Ramos in Uvalde on August 2, 1958.
He was born on October 5, 1937, in Uvalde to Indalecio P. Quiroga and Fidelia R. Quiroga. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Q. Rangel and husband, Manuel G. Rangel, his son Andy Quiroga (Darlene Moreno), sister Emma Ruiz, sister Zulema Murillo of Dallas, ten grandchildren, Marysa Martinez (Chris Cruz), Cristina Evans (Gene Evans), Manny Rangel (Gabriella Villarreal), Krystle Rangel (Fernando Rivera), Daniel Romero of San Antonio, Gerry Romero (Vanessa Romero) of Virginia, Krystle Rangel (Fernando Rivera), George Samson, Jimmy Olivarez, and Alexis Quiroga, and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsa Ramos Quiroga, his daughter Stella Q. Romero, his parents and two brothers, Basilio Quiroga and Juan Quiroga.
He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1957. He worked as a salesman most of his life. He had a special way of connecting with people. He was a man of honor and one that people turned to for advice. He was also a man with stories and jokes to tell.
He served the community as a private citizen and as a member of the city council. He founded the Helping Hand Club, a club that held fundraisers to assist people through temporary hardships. He served consecutive terms on the city council from 1972-2008. For many years he also served as Mayor Pro Tem.
When he was asked what he wanted to be remembered for, his response was “for the love that I have for my family”.
He will be missed dearly for the abundance of love and time that he devoted to his family.
Visitation September 12 at 1 -9 p.m. Rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral service September 13 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Cremation is under the direction of REK Mortuary.
Pallbearers Zachary Arizmendi, Nathaniel Rodriguez, Manny Rangel, Jimmy Olivarez, Jackson Evans, and Roy Perez.
Honorary Pallbearers Alexis Quiroga, Jameson Evans, Kayden Carrasco, Kara Romero, Valentino Romero, Lorenzo Romero, Elida Olivarez, Alejandra Rangel, Madison Hernandez and Makenzie Rivera.
