Ira Massey

August 4, 1935 — July 8, 2010

Ira Murvin Massey of Uvalde passed away on July 8, 2010 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. He was born on August 4, 1935 in Utopia, TX to Henry and Ethel Wilson Massey. He married Sandra Nell Chenault in Bandera in 1960. Most of the locals could catch him at the local bar, Rubys, to wind down from the busy day. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa or paw paw, friend and overall a great man. If you were to ask just about anyone who knew him they would tell you he was a hard worker, loving, honest, great washer player and overall a true country boy with a huge heart. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards and watch his grandkids disorganize his whole workshop.
Murvin worked for Southwestern Bell for 35 years, was a volunteer fireman for Uvalde County for 25 years and served in the Korean War. This man took life by the horns without a sweat. His life was so great and he touched so many peoples lives. There is not enough room on this paper for his story, but he will live on through his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Massey children: Mike Massey, Carrie Gass, Kayela Turner, spouses: Don Gass and Stacy Turner grandchildren: Tray Gass, Whitney Massey, Chante and Tyanne Gass, Morgan and Hunter Turner greatgrandchildren: Kelyn and Tegan Gass and many more friends and family. He will forever be in our hearts. Cremation was under the direction of RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 2:005:00 PM at Rubys Lounge, 636 E. Front St., Uvalde, TX.
