Ira Sansom

Ira Toler Sansom, Sr. of Uvalde passed away on December 13, 2010 in San Antonio at the age of 86. He was born on January 24, 1924 in San Antonio to Willis J. and Nellie Stiehl Sansom. He married Grace Ward in Yancey on July 14, 1950. He is survived by his wife of 60 years sons, Ira T. Sansom, Jr. and wife, Judy of Spicewood, TX Billy Sansom of Uvalde and Joe Sansom and wife, Debi of San Antonio daughter, Lucy Sansom of Austin two sisters, Bert Jarratt of Midland and Gina Power of Lubbock grandchildren, Tres Sansom and wife, Kate Phillip Sansom Natalie Sidoti and husband, Joe Christopher Newsom Clint Sansom and wife, Darcy Jacob Sansom and Amber Sansom greatgrandchildren, Laura, Amberlin, Wesley, and Rylie Sansom Nolan Nathan Sansom and Israel and Isabella Sidoti and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Willis, George, Robert, and Howard Sansom. The family will greet visitors from 5:00 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Yancey Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Jerry Scott will officate. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Clint Sansom Jacob Sansom Phillip Sansom Christopher Newsom Tres Sansom Natalie Sidoti and Amber Sansom. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the First Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 220 N. High St., Uvalde, TX 78801.
