Irene Chapa

Irene C. Chapa of Uvalde passed away on January 5, 2008 in Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 77. She was born on October 20, 1930 in Uvalde to Florencio and Guadalupe Canales. She is survived by a daughter, Marilou Ruiz and husband, Mario of Uvalde; sons, Gustavo Chapa, Jr. and David Chapa, both of Uvalde; and Jose Chapa of San Antonio; sisters, Elida Garcia of Edinburg, TX; Estella Canales of San Antonio, TX; and Elisa Ortegon of Menard, TX; brother, Florencio Canales of San Angelo, TX; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustavo Chapa, Sr.; parents; son, Jose Chapa; sister, Manuela Nehls; and brother, Frank Canales. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jose C. Chapa Jr.; Mario C. Ruiz; Mathew J. Ruiz; Daniel Chapa; Manuel Chapa and Jose Chapa III. Honorary Pallbearer Phillip Michael Chapa.
