Jack was born to Benjamin Burl and Martha Cornelia Chaney near La Vernia Texas on December 6th, 1920. He joined the choir of angels on October 24th, 2007.

Jack grew up in South Texas and served with honor in the US Army on Guadacanal for 27 months during WWII. He returned to San Antonio after the war where he met and fell in love with Miss Addie Jane Clayton. They were married on November 1st, 1946,thereafter giving the world five beloved children. Jack retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of faithful service. His endeavors to provide for his family were endless; he and Jane raised their children in two homes he built with his own hands, Jack working three jobs at times, while doing so. He was an honorable man, a faithful friend to many, and a father who truly led by example. He was certainly a member in good standing of The Greatest Generation. Jack was a Southern Baptist and served with his whole heart in various churches In San Antonio and in the hill country - he was a deacon, a sunday school teacher, and he sang in the choir - his only fault being a tendency to fall asleep in the back row of the choir loft. Jack loved music and composed many poems and songs - heartfelt tributes to the country he loved, the people he cherished, and The God he worshiped.

For 61 wonderful years, Jack was a caring and loving husband to his wife Jane. His five children survive him: Pamela Campbell Craig of Abilene, Sue Wunderlich Curtis of San Antonio, Peggy Duvall Ron of Utopia, Bette Collier and Jack Jr Terriof Boerne. Paw was so proud of his nine grandchildren and his 10 great-grandchildren. His precious wife Jane, of the home, survives him, also his sister, Esther Fairless of Pleasanton,as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Lee.
