James Joseph Braden, 92, of Uvalde passed away on Feb. 18, 2024, at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. Sabinal Cemetery.
He was born on September 29, 1931, in Sabinal, Texas to Barbara (Byers) and James Francis Braden.
He married Anna Mae Petone on December 2, 1950, in El Paso, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years of Uvalde; two daughters, Anna Jane “Janie” Clifton of Uvalde and Carol Kay of Comanche; three sons, Michael Braden of Sabinal, James R. Braden and wife, Margie of Westoff, and Paul Braden and wife, Jackie Russell of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Katherine Looney and husband, Jim of St Joseph Island, Georgia, Melanie Heller and husband, Justin of League City, Texas, Tony Braden and wife, AJ of San Angelo, Amanda Mantor and husband, Albert of San Antonio, Chris Braden-Worth and husband Dana Worth of San Fransico, California, Cheryl Braden and husband, James McGavran of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Marcie Braden and husband Dan McArdle of North Granby, Connecticut, Matt Braden and companion, Darian “Red” Scites of Flintville, Tennessee, Ashley King and husband, Chris of Troutman, North Carolina, Coby Kay and wife, Kimberly of Comanche, Texas, James Kay of Brackettville, Texas and Danielle Jenscke and husband, Corey of Kerrville; 23 great grandchildren, Philippa Worth, Camilla Worth, Ryan Mantor, AJ Mantor, Maddy Looney, Emily De La Rosa, Audrey Heller, Natalie Heller, Felicity Heller, James McArdle, Avery McArdle, Dakotah Francisco, Lucas King, Aleah Braden, Michaela Braden, Zoe Braden, Lawrence Braden and wife, Olivia, Kylie Kay, Bowen Kay Everett Kay, Brynlynn Jenscke, Everly Jenscke; great- great grandchildren, Oliver Braden, and Lorenzo Braden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Joan Braden; two sisters, Barbara Johnson and Frances Downing; son in law, Gerald Kay.
