James G. Davis

James G. Davis Jr., 80, of Sabinal passed away on January 13, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

He was born May 14, 1943, in Sabinal, Texas to Antonia (Gomez) and James A. Davis.

He married Hilda Esquivel on March 1, 1964 in Sabinal, Texas.

He is survived by three daughters, Kelly Gomez and husband, Jose of Castroville, Shelly Casey and husband, Bobby of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Karen Garber and husband, Russ of Hermosa Beach, California; son, James Dee Davis of Carrizo Springs; four sisters; Margarita Campos of San Antonio, Ofilia Alejandro and husband, Rodolfo of Sabinal, Delfina Anaya and husband, Jose of Somerset and Mary Reyes and husband, Jesus of Sabinal; two brothers, Alfredo Davis and wife, Estella of Sabinal and Antonio Davis of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, David Davis, Aaron Davis, Dylan Casey, Collin Casey, and Peyton Casey; four great grandchildren; Gabriela Davis, Chloe Davis, Zanida Davis, and Ryan Jacques, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years; his parents; brother, Jose Luis Davis; grandson, Zachary James Davis.

A family and friends gathering will be held on Friday, February 2, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal followed by a memorial Mass to be held at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment of ashes to follow at Sabinal Cemetery.
