Jim Hammond of Uvalde passed away on May 21, 2011 in Uvalde, TX. at the age of 59. He was born on December 2, 1951 in Somerset, Kentucky to Gaither and Mary Francis Taylor Hammond. He married Linda Marie Wright on March 3, 1972 in Dayton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 39 years mother, Mary Hammond of Dayton, Ohio three daughters, Julie Marie Dunbar and husband Jason of Austin, TX. Christina Nicole Hammond of Houston, TX. and Jamie Elizabeth Hammond of Dallas, TX. sister, Brenda Halk and husband Brian of Dayton, Ohio a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and son James Allen Hammond Jr. He had managed Super S Foods, was a supervisor at Pico Quick Pantry, owned his own store in Sabinal and was currently employed by Stripes convenience store. He was an umpire for 11 years and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Hammonds family said he loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting at the Lazy H. Ranch. They said he always had a smile and was recognizable by his great laugh and kind eyes. Family visitation will be held from 58 pm on Monday at the RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Dunbar, Kevin Dunbar, Robert Jewell, Bob Cooper, Gus Neutze and Ken Garret Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Cooper, Buck Buchanan, Martin Vasquez and Daniel Walz.
