James “Jimmy’ Wathen Simons Jr. of Uvalde, passed away on Saturday at Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo at the age of 93.
James was born on June 16, 1929 in Gulf, Texas to James Wathen and Anna M. (Kidd) Simons.
He married Ruth Laverne Webb on May 13, 1949 in Gulf, Texas.
Jimmy was a devoted Christian who loved adventure. He enjoyed his life as a goat and cattle rancher. He also enjoyed motorcycles and outdoor activities such as hunting trapping, and fishing. He had a sincere love for all animals. He was a loving family man with a joyful spirit, who loved to make people laugh as he told many tales of his life adventures. He will be deeply missed by many.
James is survived by his wife, Ruth Laverne Simons of Uvalde; three grandchildren, Sheila Ann Simons Livanec, James Robert Simons, and Sean Michael Simons; seven great grandchildren, Madison Rose Simons White, Braydon Todd Simons Livanec, Weston Rick Livanec, Shelby Lynn Simons, James Asher Simons, Zoe Rene Simons and Lucas Oliver Simons.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Wathen Simons III and Gerry Alan Simons, parents, two brothers, Jack Simons and Bobby Simons.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 am at Con Can Baptist Mission.

Cremation under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles.
