Jamie Lou Harris

April 28, 1941 — September 19, 2024

Jamie Lou Cravey Harris, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born in Tarpley, Texas on April 28, 1941 to James Noble Cravey and Lorene Haby Cravey. She was the fourth child out of 7. She spent her entire childhood in Leakey, attending school and playing sports. 

After graduation she attended Southwest Texas Junior College before starting her career in insurance in Uvalde. She later moved to San Antonio to work for Catto and Catto Insurance, advancing her way up, and retiring as a partner in the firm. 

Jamie loved to travel with her friends and go to the casinos with her sisters. In retirement, she enjoyed working in her yard, delivering Meals on Wheels and helping her neighbors. There was always a guest bedroom for a relative to stop by and stay, just make sure you clean up the bedroom before you leave!

Jamie was predeceased by her parents, former husband Leeroy Harris, brother Bud Cravey and sister Jackie Cravey Baker.

Survivors include sisters Shirley Greenwalt, Margaret Davis and Joyce Herndon and brother Doug Cravey and wife Judy. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved: Ron Baker, Sherri Lane, Don Baker, Wayne Montgomery, Dana Manoushagian, Mike Baker, Donna Schuster, Lori Cravey, Bryan Herndon and Doug Cravey, Jr along with numerous other relatives.

 

Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 21 at Frio Canyon Baptist Church in Leakey, TX with burial immediately following in the Leakey Cemetery.
