Jean Marie Beerbohm Castro, 90, of Uvalde passed away on January 17, 2024, at her residence.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, Rev. Mark Tews officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She was born on March 7, 1933, in Wisner, Nebraska to Mary Katherine (Wubbenhorst) and John Fred Beerbohm.
She married Ernest Tafolla Castro on September 29, 1951, in Reno, Nevada.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria Hawkins and husband, Bob of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Cindy Baxter and husband, Kerry of Uvalde; son, Geoff Castro of Uvalde; sister, Janet Lemp of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, John Beerbohm and wife, Joyce of McCook, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren, Jon Hawkins and wife, Tracey of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Heather Hawkins, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jennifer Rendon and husband Robert of Corpus Christi, Brandon Baxter and wife, Tara of Uvalde, Lucas Baxter and partner, Crystal Vasquez of Cuero, Mary Baxter and partner, Geno Harris of San Antonio, and Cheryl Baxter of Uvalde; 8 great grandchildren, Bree and Taya Hawkins of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Madison, Wyatt, and Jase Rendon of Corpus Christi, and Alayna, Elijah and Amaiyah Harris of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Pallbearers are Jon Hawkins, Robert Rendon, Brandon Baxter, Lucas Baxter, Gaylon Trees, and Sonny Moerbe.
